A Guide to Costa Blanca, Spain
- Did You Know? The cultivation of vines in Costa Blanca dates back to the Carthaginians, Greeks and Arabs. Wine from Alicante was chosen as one of the official wines of the Royal British Navy, and Louis XIV of France savoured it his entire life. Today, the Costa Blanca continues to be an important wine region of Mediterranean Europe.
Costa Blanca. All that you want... and more.
Spain is a perfect for countless reasons... the laid back healthy lifestyle, the beautiful beaches, the rich cuisine, the fascinating history, the mountainous landscapes, the abundance of activities, the wonderful wine, the frenetic nightlife and let's not forget the wonderful weather.
Now what sets the Costa Blanca apart from any other region? The fact that it's one of the few places in Spain blessed with all the attributes just mentioned. Its Mediterranean shores harbour spectacular scenery, brilliant beaches, numerous marinas that offer everything from sailing lessons to kitesurfing and jet skiing, and Alicante, one of the nation's most cosmopolitan, yet Spanish, cities. Its interior hosts a multitude of medieval Moorish castles, marvellous mountains, hiking opportunities, wineries and idyllic villages.
Another massive benefit of the Costa Blanca is that it offers you Spain with a little taste of home too (only if you want it!)- dotting the coast are vibrant expat communities, such as those in Torrevieja and Benidorm. That said, you can still hole up in a wee village that is Spanish through and through. It's all up to you.
